If water is coming into your house as you read this, ring 029 2010 0576. We answer around the clock. Talking to us for two minutes will tell you more than another hour of searching.
An emergency call-out is about stopping the damage, not finishing the job. We get you watertight first — sheeting, temporary covering, clearing whatever is blocking the water — then come back in daylight and decent weather to repair it properly.
What happens from the moment you ring.
What to do before we get there
Move what you canFurniture, electricals and anything that matters out from under it.
Catch the waterA bucket, and a towel in the bucket to stop it splashing.
Pierce a bulging ceilingSounds wrong, but a small hole in the middle drains it in a controlled way. A full ceiling collapse is far worse and far more expensive.
Turn off the electrics in that roomIf water is anywhere near a light fitting or a socket, kill the circuit at the consumer unit.
Do not go up on the roofWet slate is lethal, and in wind you will not stay on it. It is not worth it. That is what we are for.
Photograph everythingFor your insurer. Wide shots and close-ups, before anything is moved.
What we do on an emergency call-out
Get you watertightTemporary sheeting, tarpaulins or a patch covering to stop the ingress in the dark and the wet if we have to.
Find out why it happenedA make-safe that ignores the cause is a repeat call-out. We work out what failed while we are up there.
Clear the immediate riskLoose slates, a lifted ridge cap or a hanging length of gutter that could come down on someone.
Document it for your insurerPhotographs and a written description of what failed, which is what an insurer will ask you for.
Come back and do it properlyWith a written price for the permanent repair, so you are not committing to anything in a panic at 11pm.

Emergency Repairs — your questions
Do you really answer the phone at 3am?
Yes. Roofs do not fail politely during office hours, and most of our emergency work comes in during storms overnight. Ring 029 2010 0576 whenever it happens.
How quickly can you get to me?
For a genuine emergency in Cardiff or the surrounding area we aim to be with you the same day. During a big storm we are honest about the queue — if there are six houses ahead of you we will say so, and tell you what to do in the meantime rather than leave you wondering.
Will my insurance cover this?
Storm damage is usually covered; gradual wear and tear usually is not. Insurers will want photographs, a description of what failed and an itemised quote. We provide all three as a matter of course. See our storm damage page for how the claim process normally runs.
Can you fix it permanently on the first visit?
Sometimes. If it is a slipped slate on a dry evening, yes. If it is blowing a gale, making you watertight is the sensible job and the permanent repair waits for weather you can actually work in. Rushing a repair in the wrong conditions gets you a second leak.
What counts as an emergency?
Water actively entering the building, anything structurally unsafe, or anything that could fall and hurt someone. A slate that has slipped but is still on the roof, in dry weather, is not an emergency — it is a job for this week, and we will book it in rather than charge you for an out-of-hours visit.
